What did we do in December?

I call this our winter vacation. We spent it in warm weather. We hiked, biked, swam in pools and the ocean, and did the Florida amusement parks. We prepped and packed for our international part of our trip.

The beach is amazing in December!

We started in Charleston, camping on an old plantation. We did an old historical plantation tour. We explored the largest tea plantation in the US (complete with all species of South Carolina’s snakes and an alligator – which were the girls favorite parts).

We moved on to state parks – Chewacla State Park in Alabama and O’Leno state park in Florida. Beautiful and so different from anywhere else. We arrived at Fort De Soto in St. Petersburg just in time for an 82 degree beach day – spectacular! We crossed to the state to the East Coast and caught a rocket launch from our campground. How amazing it was to see this and so close.

So cool!

We packed up the camper and put it and the truck in storage. (Bye bye, Home Sweet Camper!) All our stuff is sorted down to a carry-on suitcase and backpack for the girls and a medium size suitcase and backpack for the adults. (Whew!) We booked every Airbnb and plane flight until we return to the US in May. (That’s a long time!) We practiced some Spanish words with the girls – the next six weeks is the Spanish language version of the trip. (Attempting to conjugate verbs…I learned twenty five years go.)

Off to continue adventure year….in Peru!
